Introduction
StyleLens (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
StyleLens is a photo organization app that uses on-device artificial intelligence to help you sort and curate your photos based on technical quality, aesthetic appeal, and your personal preferences.
The following data is processed and stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
Photos and Photo Metadata
- Your photos are accessed only when you grant permission through iOS
- Photo analysis (quality scoring, content detection) happens entirely on-device using Apple’s CoreML framework
- We do not upload, transmit, or store your photos on any external server
- Photo metadata (dates, locations, albums) is used locally to help you filter and organize photos
Learning Profile
- Your personal preferences learned from your photo selections
- Quality preference weights (sharpness, exposure, contrast, noise, composition, color harmony, visual balance)
- Content preference embeddings (anonymous mathematical representations of your visual preferences)
- This data is stored securely in encrypted device storage
Selection History
- Records of which photos you’ve picked or unpicked during sorting sessions
- Used locally to improve personalization accuracy
- Contains photo identifiers and quality scores, not the photos themselves
Imported Styles
- StyleDNA profiles you import from other users via QR code or image
- Stored locally in encrypted device storage
Analytics Data (Anonymous)
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to improve the app experience. This includes:
- App events (e.g., onboarding completion, feature usage)
- General interaction patterns (e.g., which sorting modes are popular)
- Crash reports and performance metrics
- Device type and iOS version (for compatibility purposes)
This data is:
- Completely anonymous and not linked to any personal identifier
- Aggregated for statistical analysis
- Used solely to improve app functionality and user experience
- Processed in accordance with Google’s Firebase privacy practices
What We DO NOT Collect:
- Your name, email, or contact information (unless you contact support)
- Your photos or photo content
- Location data from your photos
- Your contacts or other personal information
- Facial recognition data or biometric information
On-Device Processing
- To analyze photo quality and aesthetics
- To learn your personal preferences from your selections
- To provide personalized photo sorting recommendations
- To enable StyleDNA sharing with other users (only when you explicitly choose to share)
Analytics Data
- To understand how features are used and improve the app
- To identify and fix bugs and performance issues
- To make informed decisions about future features
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage
- All personal data (learning profile, selection history, preferences) is stored in encrypted device storage
- We use iOS secure storage mechanisms (Keychain and encrypted file storage)
- Data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it
No Cloud Storage
- StyleLens does not maintain user accounts
- We do not store your data on cloud servers
- Your learning profile stays on your device
StyleDNA Sharing
- When you share your StyleDNA, only your preference weights are exported
- The exported data is encrypted and does not contain any photos
- You control when and with whom you share your StyleDNA
- Imported styles from others are stored locally on your device
Third-Party Services
Firebase Analytics (Google)
- Provides anonymous usage analytics
- Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- You can opt out of analytics by disabling personalized ads in iOS Settings
Apple Services
- Photo Library access: Governed by Apple’s privacy controls
- App Store and In-App Purchases: Subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy
- CoreML: All AI processing happens on-device
Your Rights and Choices
Photo Access
- You control photo library access through iOS Settings
- You can revoke access at any time
- The app cannot access photos without your explicit permission
Data Deletion
- Reset your learning profile at any time in Settings
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
- Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you
Analytics Opt-Out
- Disable personalized ads in iOS Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising
- This limits the analytics data associated with your device
Children’s Privacy
StyleLens is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us to have it removed.
Data Retention
Local Data
- Selection history: Last 2,000 records retained on device
- Learning profile: Retained until you reset it or uninstall the app
- Imported styles: Retained until you delete them or uninstall the app
Analytics Data
- Retained by Firebase according to their data retention policies
- Typically 14 months for standard analytics data
International Data Transfers
Analytics data processed through Firebase may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates. This data is anonymous and handled according to Google’s data protection practices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy
- Providing notice within the app for significant changes
Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

We do not sell your personal information. Since all personal data is stored locally on your device and not collected by us, CCPA deletion requests are satisfied by uninstalling the app or using the in-app reset function.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right of access to your data

- Right to erasure
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object
Because StyleLens processes personal data locally on your device, you maintain full control over your data. You can exercise these rights by:
- Viewing your learning profile in the app
- Resetting your learning profile in Settings
- Uninstalling the app to delete all data
Legal Basis for Processing: We process anonymous analytics data based on legitimate interests in improving our app. Local on-device processing is necessary to provide the app’s functionality.
StyleLens respects your privacy. Your photos stay on your device, and your preferences are yours alone.
